He is a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the local VFW post 7756. He is active in State and local politics, and studies American history, philosophy, and theory. He is an author of a two novels including Jazz and Blues and Essence. He has performed stand up comedy and has been the host of multiple radio programs.
